Not sure me and my little stock daily driver FJ Cruiser can even keep up with all these custom rigs.

mikek Not sure me and my little stock daily driver FJ Cruiser can even keep up with all these custom rigs. Plenty of stock to light mod rigs here, don't be scared off by the big boys with the big toys. Welcome, c'mon in. Less drama here than on the state forum

You can do some amazing things with a bit of driving skill, we have all types in the club and the best part is no one willl make fun of you, at least they didn't make fun of me back when my truck was stockish.

how about stock rig and a driver with not a lot of 4x4 experience. :) double wammy! :) if i don't get a little laughing at then i must be doing something wrong! been reading the forums trying to find where the good places to go and get some driving time in. from the look of it, Bridgeport isn't too far and would be a good place to get some drive time for both me and my wife. pics i see from lipan seems that place is a little rougher. but it's real far away either. am i correct on what i am thinking on locations? Either place can be challenging or stock friendly and neither is as far away as Gilmer (At least for me anyways).

Wheeling in a small group is best when you are learning, you can see how other people driver and get help from spotters to get you over the hard stuff. But seat time is good as well for learning a vehicle. Mark - Wait, wait, I know I have it somewhere. OK here's a pic when I bought the truck...

Your fj is not a stock rig. It is a very capable rig with lockers already. Digger and Jerome are in this club and they can give you advice to protect it and make it even more capable. There are some of us who still drive their rig to wheel and will need to drive it home when done. Things do happen but that is why you travel in a group to assist one another. See ya soon on the trails

I think that FJ is gonna suprise you when you get it out on the trails. Theyre very capable.

Agreed with the capability of an FJ. Im on 2in of lift on 33's IFS and you could probably keep up with me on street tires. I went to shiloh ridge with the lift and Michelin Cross Terrain Tires and did just fine. I know that the FJ's have a rear locker and some traction control system like A Trac or something so traction should not really be an issue if its dry. Only thing would be body clearance, and tire strength. Personally I dont like the really hardcore stuff either since my rig is my dd and money is hard to come by as is lol. But that does not stop me from going out to wheel, just need to find your limits and get comfortable with your rig!

i was really surprised with the way my Xterra handled when i first took her off road. minus the fact that the front CV's blew out from being old (original with 170k miles on them). got them fixed and was able to keep up with almost everyone out at Lipan over memorial day. sorry guys still trying to get that video up. my computer does not want to work with my camera right now. plenty of stuff out at lipan for stock rigs. not sure about bridgeport though. unfortunately i will be unable to come out this weekend as i have run in to a pretty good money crunch. have to keep money in the bank to goto a cousins wedding here at the start of aug all the way up in denver. you guys have fun and take care

Indeed. If you watch where you are going you wont have a big problem with broken stuff but things happen so be aware and prepared for any body damage.
