Northwest Park -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The wait is almost over! Northwest Park will open August 29, 2009 *Grand Opening* September 19, 2009 On Saturday, August 11, 2007, the City of Bridgeport, with the help of several local enthusiasts groups, began converting 300 acres into an awesome OHV park. Two years later, Northwest Park is the place for fun with your ATVs, motorcycles, Jeeps, Hummers, etc. Our goal is to provide a safe, family fun park. Beginning August 29, 2009, Northwest Park will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Summer and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Winter with the date of change TBA. The gatehouse is completed providing riders and spectators with restroom facilities. The trails are marked by degree of difficulty. All vehicles are required to remain on designated routes and trails. Whether you are an OHV enthusiast looking for a thrill or spectator just "getting back to nature", you will enjoy the park. Fees are as folows: POV only $4.00 $2.00 Resident Discount UTV/ATV/Bike $15.00 $5.00 Resident Discount SUV/Jeep $25.00 $10.00 Resident Discount RV $10.00 $5.00 Resident Discount When the project is complete, there will be an area for non-motorized vehicles such as mountain bikes, a hiking trail system for nature enthusiasts, as well as camping and RV hookups. Northwest Park is located .8 miles North of Hwy 380 on Hwy 101 on the West side. You must go past the entrance and make a u-turn 1.1 miles North of Hwy 101. GPS coordinates are 33 degrees 14' 11" N 97 degrees 46' 38" W The pysical address is 2914 Hwy 101. For more information call 940.683.3480. Texas OHV Program A Texas OHV decal costs $8.00 and is good through August 31 of the year it was purchased. Many other states require this decal for their OHV users. A decal purchased in Texas is also valid in other states and other state decals are valid in Texas. Revenue generated by the sell of the decals will be used as grant monies to help municipalities, counties, state or federal agencies and non-profit corporations to create new or improve existing OHV recreation ares in Texas. Northwest Park does not require the Texas OHV decal for entering the park but TPWD does spot check from time to time. Failure to comply with the provisions of this law constitutes a class C misdemeanor and could result in the OHV operator being issued a citation. Fines for this offense range from $25 to $500. For more information visit the Texas OHV Program.

Hmmm, $25 a day? Seems a bit steep. I'm assuming "resident discount" refers to Bridgeport inhabitants. I wonder if they would extend the resident discounts to the local clubs?

FYI, just got off the phone with TPWD. Due to a vendor change, they are not expecting to have the 2009/2010 OHV stickers in until the first of September and they are not even taking orders until then. Not that it will matter for the opening day of Bridgeport, but I wonder if the rangers will allow a grace period for having an old sticker in Sept due to their delays.

If they are going to cite vehicles that are both off and on highway then that is wrong. I get my sticker because I want to support the program, not because I have to.

ORIGINAL: calpher If they are going to cite vehicles that are both off and on highway then that is wrong. I get my sticker because I want to support the program, not because I have to. What types of vehicles are required to have a Texas OHV decal? Any type of OHV, ATVs, motorcycles, full sized OHVs, or other types of OHVs used at venues where OHV recreation is legal and which are located on public lands, or at private OHV venues which have received TPWD OHV grant monies, are required to have a current Texas OHV decal properly mounted on the vehicle before riding. Do street-legal vehicles need the OHV decal when riding at an OHV venue located on the public lands of Texas? Yes, street legal motorcycles, street legal full-sized vehicles, full-sized 2-wheel drive vehicles, and 4-wheel drive vehicles need a Texas OHV decal when trail riding on public land. Use of street-legal OHVs on private land or on public roads does not require the Texas OHV decal. Licensed, registered, street legal vehicles are still required to have a valid sticker to wheel state funded land. Sorry Chris, yes you have to.

They don't expire until Aug 31. I was just wondering what they would do after that since they will not even have new stickers in Austin until after the old ones expire.
