Wiring LED tail lights Tuesday, September 23, 2008 7:20 AM (permalink)

I have been meaning to post this up for some of us looking to figure out the wiring for LED tail lights.
This worked for my 97 TJ but should work for most of you with jeeps. The LED side of the equation works for any of you others that need the wiring colors and what they are for.

Three wire LEDs are what you will need for the tail/brake lighting
LED-
Black wire --------Tail/Sidemarkers
Red-------------------Stop/Turn
White----------------Ground

Jeep-
Purple/black--------Backup
Black/Yellow--------Tail/SideMarker
Green/Red------------Left Turn/Stop
Brown/Red-----------Right Turn/Stop

The ground wire on the LED must be grounded to the body/and or frame for them to work.
If anyone else has some input for other rigs such as Chebies or Fords feel free to add to this thread.
