Turbo Oil Pressue Thursday, March 24, 2011 5:40 PM (permalink)

I am trying to figure out my oil leak into the exhaust from my T3/T4 hybrid turbo.

The center section isnt even a year old yet.

The motor is puting out 50psi at idle.  I have read online that turbos only need 10-15psi.  Is this correct?  Do I have too much pressure?

There are companies like ATP Turbo that sell a tiny flow reducer for $16 bucks.  Do I try it?

Other info explained that it could be the drain tube being clogged or kinked.  True, it is a bit messed up from years of on and off.  I suppose I could use a new one.  But wait it was all working when I put the turbo on the first time without smoke?

Do I rebuild the center?

Do I replace the center with new?

Do I buy a a new down tube and adapter thing?

Or do I just run with smoke?..JK the oil will soon foul my O2 sensor.  So this has gotta get fixed.

not sure but if it was a HX35 I would tell you all about it!!!

I know on the HX35 if the center is loose it burns oil out the exhaust. Im pretty sure the pressure for the turbos depends on what kind you got. but i dont know anything about the one you have

Thanks.  All turbos are pretty the much the same.  The only real difference in the centers are ball bearing and standard which is bushing/oil film type bearing.

All ya need is the bushing & seal kit and rebuild the center section . That should fix your leaking. Or you can exchange the center section only. Your oil pressure is fine

Thanks.  I was looking into that also.  I have a T4 turbo that the center should be the same. The only thing is it uses a banjo oil feed.  It might take a 1/4 pipe but I am not sure.  Also I am not sure if my t3/t4 center has the same shaft size.
