Adopted trails at BMRA

Hello all
I am trying to track down a positive contact for anyone who has adopted a trail. If you are one of these people or now any of them please respond here, PM me or e-mail at billyji@hotmail.com. I need to know if you want to continue to sponsor your trail and need a positive contact for you.

We are also looking for new sponsors. If you want to sponsor a trail the requirement is to pick up the trash and trim the trees and bushes back to their trunks atleast twice a year.

TMTC/BMRA OHV rep.

I thought that dfw-tx4wd had another trail - can anyone help out and do we want to continue?  I think the answer to the second part would be yes.

Is the DFW Chapter still responsible for Saturday Night Live and Sunday Cruise as well?  I didnt see either of those trails listed...
Those were the first two we sponsored and then picked up Linda Gail after the construction of the camp site began.  Only made sense for us to maintain the trail that ran past our camping area!!  Just wondering...

      Thanks Steve

Does the club still want to sponsor these trails?

Well if no one except a few people show up then I'd say no!  Dave and I (with the help of one other) took over 1/2 a day to do just Linda Gail.

We still in my opinoin need to sponser these trails.  We used to have a large showing for the clean ups usually we where the largest group.

I can't get out there very often anymore due to finances.   I agree it is a good thing to take an active part in maintaining BMRA.  But I will be a hypocrite if I were to say let's do it, because I don't get to go there more than twice per year anymore.

I think if we have club members who can actively take part in it its a good thing.  If we do though, what above asking for specific individuals within the club to take responsibility for it on behalf of the club?  You know, like they would organize cleanup runs twice a year or something?

I think it's good if our club were to maintain only one trail - Linda Gail - and stick with that one.  I'll admit, I'm one of the guilty ones that hasn't done trail maintenance in a while on behalf of our club (I think last time I worked on Linda Gail was almost two years ago).  Even so, the last time I did manual labor/cleanup at BMRA was last year, but that was for the Toyota Trail Riders campsite maintenance.  My guess is that many of us don't have the time and money to go as often as we'd like.  Obligating the club to maintain more than one trail may not only stretch us thin, but may also leave us looking bad in the eyes of BMRA management if we don't keep up with that obligation.  Meanwhile, there are other clubs wanting to adopt trails that could take over for the other trails our club is willing to relinquish.  As an example, I know the TX Chapter of the Toyota Territory Off Roaders Association has been actively seeking a trail to adopt, not necessarily one of our trails, though.

Just thought I'd mention my humble opinion on the matter.  I'll support whichever decision our club decides to take either way.

Speaking for 1/2 of the cleanup crew at the last work day from this club I would say that sponsoring only Linda Gail would be best.  It took CrazyDave and I about 6 hours to clean up Linda Gail with the help of a third person who was just out there and willing to help.  More than one trail and then we start looking like we are shirking our responsibility for multiple trails.

i agree with steve..... maybe since we are one of the clubs that put on one of the biggest events out there, then we as a club should be responsible for more than one trail. i have been on a few clean up's and we had plenty of time and people. i would say the last clean up is not a good compass to gauge our support. i fell if we adopted more trails we can handle them. Linda gail just happens to be like omega and is one of the longest trails.... the others are good short one...

Just let me know when and where with as much notice as possible and I'm game. Also, if I need to bring trash bags, snacks, beer...I mean "drinks", and chain saws. You know, your regular clean-up gear.

I'd be happy to help on a trail cleanup. Sundays are probably the best day for me. I live in Arlington but usually drive out Saturday after work, camp, and wheel on Sunday. If it's something that only needs to be done once or twice a year I'd be happy to help organize it.

The Last three clean up weekends I was able to attend there was around 10 or more people out there from our club. That's plenty to clean the two or three trails we have and still have time for a good time.
