I emailed a few questions to those running for board positions....and received the following replies so far. Chris Jester 1. Q - How long have you been a TMTC menber? A - Since 3/05. Member #4708 2. Q - Have you read the Articles of Incorporation? A - No. Where are they located? 3. Q - Have you read the original Bylaws? A - Yes. 4. Q - Have you read the proposed Bylaws? A - Yes. 5. Q - Have you attended any TMTC board meetings or committee mettings? A - Yes, I have attended BMRA Operations committee meetings for the last 3 months. 6. Q - How do you personally intend to communicate with the users / members? A - Either by posting information / questions on TMTC website forums or on TON.net / KTMTalk.com type forums to reach a wider audience. 7. Q - What do you think TMTC's future goals should be? A - Continue to acquire new properties and / or provide guidance to other entities to acquire property for ORV use in Texas. Continue to seek maximum allowable state grants. Help expand / rehabilitate existing ORV areas across the state. 8. Q - What is TMTC greatest asset? A - Its Membership. 9. Q - ...greatest liabilities? A - Willingness to volunteer and short-sighted leadership. 10. Q - How will you help increase the membership numbers? A - I can help increase the membership numbers by performing my duties as MC Rep the best I can. If people see change or lack thereof (for better or for worse), word spreads. When things improve for the TMTC membership, then more people will want to become members. 11. Q - Are you willing to attend meetings / hearings with TPWD, Texas Senate, FS, counties, cities numerous times a year? A - Yes. 12. Q - Are you willing to attend TMTC Board meetings, committee meetings and General Memebership meetings? A - Yes. 13. Q - Are you willing to listen to the users / members and put their opinions above your own? A - Absolutely. 14. Q - Do you think TMTC should listen only to it's members???...or should TMTC take all users opinions into account? A - I think TMTC should listen to all users because good ideas aren't limited to just the membership. However, the decisions affecting the direction of TMTC should be limited to TMTC members. 15. Q - How do you intend to gather and keep volunteers to help with building TMTC, BMRA/EDRA? A - I have several ideas that I think will help entice more people to come out and donate time and effort to the success of TMTC. (i.e. volunteer hours rewarded with park passes, opportunities to win free memberships / passes by monthly drawings, yearly passes....) These are my thoughts. Right or wrong. If anyone has any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to reply here or PM me. Thanks and regards, Chris ********************* Carroll Brousard 1. How long have you been a TMTC Member? Just send in my membership dues this month. I have not been to the TMTC Park in Gilmer. My major reason for joining TMTC is to help build off road parks in Austin/San Antonio area of the state. I currently know of very few members of TMTC in our part of the state due to the large driving distance from here to Gilmer. Once the Ozona Park is open I expect to see a greater interest in membership in TMTC. 2. Have you read the Articles of Incorporation? Yes, what is posted on the WEB. 3. Have you read the original Bylaws? Yes, what is posted on the WEB. 4. Have you read the proposed Bylaws? Yes, what is posted on the WEB. 5. Have you attended any TMTC Board meetings or committee meetings? No 6. How do you personally intend to communicate with the users/members? Cell phone and email, then in person at the meetings. Texas is a big state and I am located in New Braunfels. 7. What do you think The TMTC's future goals should be? A large trail system all over the state that has both TMTC local and state control. It would be nice to have a trail system like New Mexico, Utah, or Colorado. 8. What is TMTC's greatest asset? Its members that sign up again year after year to keep the current park in the black and the members that have the time to put out the effort to build other first class trail system like other states have. 9. Greatest liability? I am to new to the TMTC to really know. 10. How will you help increase the membership numbers? The only way to increase membership numbers is to offer them trail systems like other states have, treat them with respect, listen to what they have to say, and make decision that are in the best interest of the entire TMTC members 11. Are you willing to attend meetings/hearing with TPWD, The Texas Senate, Forest Service, Counties, Cities numerous times a year? Yes, as many as I can. I still work a 50 hour a week job so that will not always be easy. 12. Are you willing to attend TMTC Board meetings, committee meetings, and General Membership Meetings? Yes 13. Are you willing to listen to the users/members and put their opinions above your own? Yes, if we do not listen how can we keep our current member or get new ones. 14. Do you think The TMTC should only listen to it's members...or should TMTC take all users opinions into account? The only way to grow into a state wide trail system is to listen to all current members and also those in other areas of the state that will become future members. 15. How do you intend to gather and keep volunteers to help with building TMTC.And/or BMRA/EDRA? This will be the hardest thing to do. I would be fooling myself if I thought that I could keep volunteers working in both Gilmer and our new west Texas location. I live over 300 miles from Gilmer and about 200 miles from Ozona. Most of my time would most likely be spent with Ozona volunteers. I currently have a friend that is working on the Ozona project so I have a good idea of how much time that will take. And that amount of time leaves very little time for the Gilmer location. You will find that I will tell you up front what I am able to do and not do and I am not the kind of person that will over commit to something I am not capable of completing. ************************* Stacy Newman 1.
