RE: TMTC 2007 Elections - Send in YOUR ballot Sunday, July 15, 2007 7:10 AM (permalink)
Here's the candidates I am voting for and why.

July 28th 2007 TMTC General Membership Meeting Ballot

        President 2 Year Term

        Tony Eeds (Currently At-Large Representative)
I'm voting for Tony, not just because he is the only one running, but because I really believe that he is going to be a great addition to TMTC and the BOD.

        Secretary 2 Year Term

        Bobby Beamer (Currently Motorcycle Representative)

        Charles F. “Chuck” Wise

I am voting for Bobby. The Secretary position is one of the most important position we have. They are responsible for voting, newsletter or whatever else we end up using for communication, and for the membership record keeping. They should know our bylaws like the back of their hand. I think it's important to have someone in this position that knows some background history on TMTC. Chuck may be a wonderful person, but I feel this postion should be filled by someone who knows The TMTC inner workings from first hand experience.

        OHV Representative Odd Year

        Richard Cruz

        Mike Green

        Billy Thomas

I am voting for Billy Thomas. All three of these are good candidates. But my vote has to go to Billy, because I've seen him at TPWD meetings and Ozona public hearings and at all the TMTC General Meetings. He is already involved on a statewide level and that's what we need to move TMTC forward.

        Motorcycle Representative Odd Year

        Chris Jester

        Steve Seton

I am voting for Chris Jester. I Think he would be a great addition as a user rep. I know him from BMRA and from TSCEC and from the TON forums where he goes by "Maladjusted". I do not know Steve Seton and have no contact information on him to even ask him questions. He may be a perfect person for the job...I do like that he lives in west Texas.

ATV Position Representative Both Odd And Even Year

        Carroll Broussard

I guess I'm voting for Carroll. Don't know much about him. He goes by nujac on the Texas Offroad Network.

        At-Large Odd Year

Steve "Rocketman" Smith (Currently At-Large Representative)

        Stacy Newman

        Steven Tucker

This one's a though one. But I have to vote for Stacy Newman. He is a great user rep....with or without the title. I'd really like Steven Tucker on there, too.....so, what I'm gonna do in this case is vote for Stacy...and at the meeting on the 28th whoever dosen't win by popular vote....I will ask that the board appoint the other to the even year position left vacant by Tony Eeds. That dosen't mean that is what will happen. The board ....actually the President ....can choice to fill that position with anyone they want...or not fill it at all.

The reason I'm not voting for Mike Green or Steve Smith.....they are both close friends with Tony Eeds.....nothing wrong with that...Tony's a really nice guy, but is it best for the organization to have the President's friends on the board? In my opinion I can see where it could cause some of the same problems we are trying to fix.

            Remember to VOTE.

Also, I think we are taking both rigs out to BMRA on the 28th.  I want to try out my new gears and Tracie needs more time on the trail behind the wheel of her new rig.  I also know someone that has on '05 Rubi Unlimited that needs to see the dirt.  Maybe he will be brave and show us that he can wheel his new rig.

Our plans are to get there early on Saturday morning and wheel before the meeting at noon.  I believe that there will be hamburgers for those that attend the meeting.

Thanks to all that voted.  Again, thanks and I was glad to see so many stepping up to plate and running for a position.

Brief summary of meeting.  (Crazy Dave or Laura - please correct or add as needed to my notes)
EDRA - Meeting with TPWD and Ozona - November, paperwork to the feds by Dec.  Goal is have a soft opening of EDRA in the spring.  There is a map I saw with trails that are being sent in with the Master Plan.  Reminds me of Superlift in Hot Springs - trails that you go out and play on for a few hours.
TMTC website and forums - it seems like several hours are being put in toward these updates.  Something was said about using vbulletin for forums - I am not a geek like Creepy so I don't understand.  As long as they work and it helps with communication for TMTC.
Night Riding @ BMRA - it was discussed, but due to many factors, I don't believe we will see wheeling after 10:00 p.m.
Night Riding @ EDRA - this will not happen, TPWD had that written into the Master Plan
By-Laws - revisions are still being worked on with the IRS.

I might have left something out, but that was the major stuff.

I believe Billy said it all but there was a reminder of Quiettime which means no driving around after 10:00pm to 6:00am and no loud noise(music, partying)  because it disturbs the neighbors and your fellow campers.  They are going to treat it the same way a state park would.  The new area has plans for more space between the campsites for more privacy.  Met many people from different clubs who love to wheel also so I told then to tell us when they are doing stuff we may join them and  they can join us on our stuff.  I met Mark Gregory the Lone Star Jeep club  President after Billy talk to him and asked him to let us know about their stuff.

No Sir, Mike Green is a new OHV Rep.  Which is good.  I have never heard anything but good concerning Mike Green.

Well, if it's any consolation, I was one of the 26 that voted for ya!  You should still be applauded for stepping up to the plate and offering your time for TMTC.

Met many people from different clubs who love to wheel also so I told then to tell us when they are doing stuff we may join them and  they can join us on our stuff.  I met Mark Gregory the Lone Star Jeep club  President after Billy talk to him and asked him to let us know about their stuff.

I think that's great, Dave.  One of the things I've noticed is that alot of clubs remain exclusive with each other without realizing it, preventing unity within the 4x4 ranks.

A note I forgot to post.

EDRA - ATV, Motorcycles and OHV cannot be over 95 db sound level.  In other words, it can't be loud.  Per TMTC, they have a way the ATVs and Motorcycles can easily be made quite.  There is also a way to check how loud your rig is.

I would be that in the near future that BMRA will have the same rules.

Noise Pollution - that is something else that we need to be concerned about.  Folks, just get ready, we are playing a new game.  I also believe that this concern over noise pollution is going to hit every place we want to go.

Also, I am not against the noise pollution rule or thought.  I can handle a restriction on noise if it means that I have a place to ride.

Also, remember, I am Green and a Tree Hugger.  I have no problem of hugging a tree with a strap when I need a little tug.
