Opinions on Hidden Falls
Sunday, July 10, 2011 10:18 PM
( permalink)
Hey all, Im just wondering if anyone has any opinions on the trails at hidden falls? My vehicle is a 2010 GMC 4x4 Crew Cab so Im not looking for anything hard, but Im just looking to find some easier trails I can wheel that are open and fun where I wont scratch/dent my truck all up. I have found a few posts of people that say mainly the 1 and 2 trails will be best for stock vehicles and some 3 rated trails are good as well. Any input is appreciated as well as suggestions for other areas. Thanks

Thanks guys! I do plan to buy a rig just to wheel and bash on in the future, but I dont really have the funds for that just yet. Im just looking for some open fun places to mess around a little bit right now.

always liked that area of texas, if i won the lotto ide buy land there. never been to park. Also not hatin but ide come out to some club events and jump in a passenger seat. i would hate to scratch that chevy. but if your determined to wheel it, bridgeport was a blast but lots of tight turns and gilmer is the bomb but lots of tight trails

You could play on the main roads and in the quarry all day at Bridgeport with out scratches. The trails are really tight out there.

If you wheel it, even in a huge open area, you will end up with scratches and possibly dents. Having mud flaps will help big time, but I ate up my rockers just driving down my driveway. The tires pick up rocks and throw them into the rockers, it just eats up the paint. If you are out romping it, its gonna happen. Trail riding will be tough. At Bport last weekend I had to take bypasses more than once because my truck just didn't fit down some trails. On several trails, I just rubbed the trees, or eeked by very slowly. Sorry to sound discouraging, but I am on fullsize truck #3 that I have wheeled and they all have taken a beating. If you stay on wide open trails and use four low to control your wheel speed, it should be ok. You can also just hit up some mud pits and avoid the trails.

Ya, I dont plan to wheel this truck hard. Thats why I am looking for something open and easier where I could go slow and just have something to do every once in a while. Im totally ok with mud though. I just didnt know of anywhere for trucks though. Although, I think I found a couple of parks that would be fun for a weekend trip. We'll see though. Thanks again for the info!

I too have a vehicle that I use as my daily driver. It is a 2006 VW Touareg and I am itching to take it off road however I do not want to mess it up (a few scratches is ok). I would like to stay on # 1 and 2 trails as it only has stock tires and I am a novice. Are there any good parks with more emphasis for beginners? Thanks

I think you would have a better time out at Shiloh with a full size truck. More mud/trail riding and not so many rocks. kayden101 Shiloh ridge if your ok with mud. and there are LOTS of trails there that are WIDE for big trucks. there also some small trails too, unfortantly nothing is marked there =P

Shiloh is fun! Dont go out there alone or without recovery gear though. A mud pit can ruin your day if you dont have help and gear to get out of it. FYI - the lower mud area looks all serene and calm but it has holes that will swallow your truck... See this - https://www.facebook.com/...=221c80504c&type=1

So me and my son went out to Shiloh today and had a great time. There was no one out there exept two others which made it kind of nice although we got lost a couple of times and had to retrace our tire tracks. We had some pretty good challenges because my tires are stock and almost need to be replaced. For the most part though they gripped pretty good exept when all fours had no contact. I must say that the awd system on this vehicle is awesome. Most of the trails we took were wide enough with no overhanging branches or washouts. Good thing everything was bone dry otherwise I would have got stuck several times. Its a shame the park is 2.5 hours away as I would like to do it again. I have several videos and pics but can not figure out how to upload. Where is the post editor that allows you to do this? Talk soon
