Rumor is that we may have to pay alittle next time   like when they open the park every weekend.  ,,,did pick up some trash to keep it clean so they will keep inviting us back.

Keep an eye on the city web site.  Any news is usually posted on the parks and rec page when it is available.

Just saw this post over on LSJC forums...

                  Bridgeport Update

I talked to Ryan and here's what he said....
The gate house isn't coming along as fast as he wanted. So it won't be finished til the end of July. Then he wants to take a month and hire and train a park manager(team). After that he can open up for day use on weekends. Looks like the end of August. Cost will probably be around $15 per vehicle.

Not sure if they are going to offer camping there but I would not be surprised if some neighbors offered some camping space to make a buck.

I would venture to guess overnight camping is still quite a few months away.  All the maps I have seen show a camping area but let's get the place open for day use first.  Baby steps.

With all the people willing to volunteer in exchange for say a day's worth of wheeling, they could have that place built in a week with some good scheduling. I am pretty busy but I would make time to dedicate a day of work building a gate house, fences, etc. In return I would be happy with a free pass for one day.

Squeaky, just a thought but you may want to offer this suggestion for volunteer work.

Oh, also just saw that Bridgeport wheeling will require OHV stickers.  City will not be looking for them but TPWD "may make appearances".  The question was raised on LSJC if Bridgeport was getting state funding or not and could TPWD really enforce lack of stickers if it is a city park with no state funding.  My opinion, the $8 a year is well worth getting an OHV sticker, not having to worry about a ticket and knowing that you are supporting legal offroading and the development of new parks to wheel.

I am serious about giving a hand, I currently am on vacation if something comes up please let me know. I would not even expect a free day of wheeling, I am new to this community and would like to do my part in helping expand places to wheel legal in hopes to stop illegal wheeling. I apoligize for jumping the gun about the camping, only asked because I also want to get my family involved. How can I obtain a ohv sticker.

Does anyone have a direct contact with the person(s) responsible for Bridgepoort? I think we should offer a volunteer day or program.

Search in the forums for OHV, there are several posts about them.  You get them from Parks and Wildlife or local ATV stores, there is a list on TPWD's web site.  If you are not going to be at Gilmer or other places that require them any time soon, I would hold off for a bit.  They expire at the end of August every year so if you buy one now you will need a new one in two months.

The Ryan referred to in the LSJC post is Bridgeport parks director, Ryan Nolting.  Check out the Bridgeport city web site, I'm sure there is contact info there.  LSJC has been very involved with the park since day one so there is lots of insider info and breaking news on their forum.  I am registered over there but mainly just troll for info.  You don't need to register to view their forums, you just can't search or post.
