So as some of you who know me already know, I've taken a new job and I'm going to be moving soon.
For the benefit of those who don't know, here's the short version:
Work up here in OKC has not been fun to say the least. I have been quietly looking for some time. I tried to find something back down in DFW or even Austin but nothing seems to be working out. After some recent things came to light, not the least of which was layoffs that weren't handled well at all, I decided to expand my search to places I wouldn't otherwise consider. I just need to get out of here.
I was able to find a job back home in Iowa where I grew up. I'm going to work for WABTEC in Cedar Rapids. I'm going to be designing software for train control systems. There's a new mandate by the government to have better control over trains to help prevent accidents (as well as improve efficiency and all that) and I'm getting in to a company that has a big lead in that market.
I turned in my notice at Northrop on Monday and my last day here is Thursday the 12th. I'm going to be moving up to Iowa over the two weeks following that and starting after Memorial day.
There's an off chance I'll be back down to Fort Worth to work with BNSF down there from time to time. I'm also going to be going to several sites all over the country off and on. There's even a good chance I'll be going down to Brasil since they're installing the system this company makes.
I'll post up on my CJ progress from time to time. And I'll post up about the upgrades I do to Truck Norris once the CJ is done. I may even try to get down to Clayton or Disney in Oklahoma since that's probably the closest place I'll be able to find real rock crawling. Then there will be trips to Colorado and Moab. We'll see how those work out over the years.
