Money Pit 1 build begins...(garage :P)

well, after several weeks of trying to decide which route to take, I finally found a good deal on a Post hole auger which made up my mind on building a workshop / temporary garage. It is 15x20 and will be 8 ft tall. It will serve as storage for my yard equipment and a temporary garage until we build the big garage (hopefully by end of summer...we'll see :P) Only problem is, my brother goes back home monday and its too darn cold to do anything outside.. so, will prob be a few months before I finish researching how to do the roof :P Yes, My brother was the brains of the project and we started way too late! lol Anyway, I will attempt to post the pics here!

If I ever finish building it, I will end up putting a ton of money inside with tools, equipment etc (most of the stuff I have no clue how to use :P )

   woops... well, after thinking about this one considerably, I just couldn't come up with a better fitting name for a garage, so, guess you'll just have to come bust me one :) rofl

well, didn't get much done on the garage today... but, did get a lot of other stuff done.. two trips to home depot and about an hour to hour and a half working time and we got the bottom and middle band on :P

well, work does continue.. very slowly.. between my work schedule, wifes work schedule and sons school schedule.. wind, rain and just too snowy days... we have finally made a little progress!

So is it done?  It just doesn't look complete yet.

lol, not quite.. I dont have enough corner pieces to do all 4 corners, so, have been looking at my options.. Didnt want to get too much further and have to re-do a lot because of what I decide.. I was going to go with Vinyl siding corners, but, only thing in stock at home depot was white.. just didnt look right, so, we took those back and found a guy in gainesville that can prob match the corner pieces I have now.. so, going to see him this afternoon after I get up :) once i get the corners worked out, we'll finish the siding and tackle the roof. Really not looking forward to the roof.. but.. like the rest, we'll learn :) In the past, I have only built decks, so, this is a learning experience for My oldest son, wife and myself!

my PLAN is, to make a set of doors.. we'll see how that goes too!

well, things will be slowed down a bit... I went up the ladder too fast to work on a truss and the ladder kicked out from under me. Landed on the side of my foot. Didnt break my ankle, but, sure does hurt!

Yea, it should be. Just delay the garage by a couple of weeks... My own fault, I didnt think the build could go any slower... guess I was wrong lol
 
 

Got a little more done last weekend :P

Now to get doors done so I can start on the inside!

Thought about putting concrete floor, but, thats beyond my expertise and I think cost is going to be more than I want to put into it to have someone else do it, we'll see. I keep changing my mind on it...have even changed once or twice since I started typing this! lol

yes, I still need to trim the shingles off the sides. Had no clue what I was doing when I did the roof..should have trimmed them before nailing them down! all well.. live and learn :)

I have a guy that will come help me pour a cement floor.. seriously considering it... just have to get price on cement to see if I want to spend that much on it..


Yes, there is ALOT of room for improvements... but, here is the mostly completed outside... still need to trim the shingles (one day I guess I'll do it lol )

Siding didnt match up with doors like I had hoped.. but, we learned ALOT from this project. Tons of things I will do different (and prob right) next time, but, it was fun!

First workbench/peg board section :P Still havent decided on the floor, I'd like to do cement floor, but, that will have to wait until after christmas!

take care of that ankle.  I should have gone to the Doc but did not want to taken off my job so I just iced it and put a heat rub on it later and soak it later in the day.  took about 6 weeks to walk without a limp.   Now just paint the shed and all will be good.  You should have added alittle insualtion on the inside.  I know it is just money
