Marshall Creek and other Wheeling places

Well after Building my rig up and getting everything ready I need to go Wheel it somewhere. I looked into Marshall Creek But they have changed it and you cannot take OHV's out there anymore. Darn Trophy Club Rich People. The Trails are off limits by this clubs rules. I know that the hundreds of people that go out there every weekend may not be right in what they do. But darn it they should do something for us locals that want a place to play. 165 miles to Gilmer doesnt seem fair to have to drive if you want to go out almost every weekend. I know most of you can't play this often but I work hard During the week so that I can go do whatever I want on the weekend. So what im asking is is there any place within 100 miles of dfw to go play? If you want to go Mud Hopping there is a place off 820 thats flat and muddy that has a large pond by it. I want a challenge and the trails is the only place to go. I'm in such a delemma between Right and Fun I have been going to the trails since i was 8 years old which is 20 years now. I learned how to ride my first Dirtbike out there and have never had any issues with anyone. OK I'm better now. I just think I needed a Vent Rant. Just Dont ask me and I wont have to lie to you about where i go wheel at.

No place that I am aware of. Many have said it before. We need a place in the metroplex that would allow members to wheel. Because of steep land prices and general lack of hilly terrain around here, that doesn't leave much in the way of land. Now take what remains, if any, and quell the neighbors. That leaves nothing. If we could pool our energies and dollars, we could probably find some land nearby that could be purchased as a coop. It would require a minimum investment annually or the purchase of a lifetime membership for people to be able to wheel on it. Some gun clubs have done similar things.

I think we would need to be alot bigger than we are to be able to do this. Now if we could get registered as a Non Prophit Organization that would Rock!! we could get grants and say it's all for land preservation and fun outdoor activities.

We are non-profit, we did that a bunch of years ago... Im not sure about the grants and stuff but it sure would be worth checking out!

I don't want to throw cold water on a good daydream..... butttt. About a year or so ago I seriously considered this as an investment to disperse an estate. I was willing to put in 600k cash and borrow some to get it started. Guys this would not even get close to what is needed to open and maintain an ohv park for the first year. Insurance was out of sight and I've herd all the "they signed a release" arugments and my lawer told me quite frankly that when a signed release meets a good lawer the release looses a lot of the time. And up keep on the grounds i.e. port o potties, trails, roads, camp grounds, fences and on and on and on. It will take a large group with political clout to get this done. Either that or someone's rich uncle leaving you a butt load of land and money.

My brother in law is in the ****per business. The nice ones you see at the national and state parks start at $100K, no shower included. The expense involved in the campground alone would be tremendous. Kim and I thought we would buy a small campground and go into business on our own, the price was around $2m for the property and 1st years expenses. It is big time expensive.

ya'll already have the nonprofit org with a track record ........remember TMTC? Well it looks like a lot is going to change in TMTC this year. Up til now we have mainly been focused on BMRA and the new EDRA. But if ya'll are following the bylaw changes and hopefully attending the meeting April 28th, you may have noticed this org is changing. We are setting up individual park boards that will run their individual parks. Leaving TMTC the time to do more of what a statewide org should be doing. Finding and opening more land...helping cities and counties and other orgs do the same thing. Now, speaking of the metromess ....just recently Steve Thompson with TPWD RTP grants and the new OHV Sticker program...well he asked me who owned 360 and how to get hold of em. I told him about the info I had compiled six years ago...but it didn't include anything west of 360. I'm thinkin if anyone has the time to find out ownership contact info....we could revisit the issue of making 360 legal.

here is their new site addy: http://www.brushycreekmotorfarm.com/index.html From the pics they have it seems they are more for quads and bikes but in any case I sent them this email: I am a board member of the TX4WD organization and just came upon your site and had a few questions: Is Brushy Creek setup for mainly four wheelers or are there any decent trails for Jeep wheeling? How far is Brushy Creek from the DFW area? How many Acres is Brushy Creek?... and if it is large, do you have plans or means to make more Jeep trails? The reason I ask is because our club loves to make legal wheeling trips at least once a month but the closest place we have now is Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer, TX which is 2 and a half hours away. We would love to have a closer place to wheel and would like to check out Brushy Creek and offer our business if you are planning to accommodate 4x4 rigs. here is our website: http://www.dfw-tx4wd.org/ Best Regards, Matt

Going have to ask my sister if she heard of this since they live close to there. But the photos seem to show more bikes and atv's, but it would be fun to check it out.

Brushy creek is a MC/ATV place. I actually would hate to see 4x4's out there. As a matter of fact, I would strongly suggest we ignore BC. It's bad enough having to watch for stupid kids on quads trying to run you over when you are on your bike. Stupid kids in thier jeeps would ****. Keep BC as it is, dont let the state/gov get there hands on it and muck it up. Now, with that said, if ya'll want to go check it out in the jeeps, lets go. There is lots of mud out there and thats about it. Couple of big creek crossings that could be interesting as well. ok, off my soap box as far as local MC places go.

Will my sister was unaware of it but my niece knew of it, its close to their home. she said the same thing Bryan said, most people ride ATV's and Mc's there but there are mud holes people play in. And like every other area it has issues and since the area is growing by the hour it may not be there much longer if we go lets just do it.
