Hyd steering assist

I was at the Mega Run this weekend and there was a guy there and he had tapped into the gear box and put in a hyd ram to help him with his steering. Does anyone know where I can find more tech stuff on this procedure? He said he got his info online and I am having trouble finding anything on it.

Thanks,,, This one was one where you tap the original gear box and then install a hyd ram for just a few hundred bucks instead of the $1K plus PSC has.

You can not tap into a gear box that is not made for an external ram. You need to buy one.

I see what they did, but you have to drill the big hole first, then take a small bit like an 1/8" or so and drill down to the pressure cavity. If you go too far yout screwed. I assume you can take it all apart and possibly see the area inside....or not. But it does look like something I would be taking on in a weekend. I would practice on another gear box first before screwing up the one you are using. OR...just do it! and if it doesnt work...then buy PSC.

Actually on that box it is pretty straight forward you just drill the 7/16s hole as indicated, tap it then it is ported! I would however suggest rebuilding the box due to the shavings that would end up inside! Or you could send your box to the first link I provided and let them do the work!!!!
