Glock36 Yeah that was why I just went with the 73-87 Chevy 3/4 ton front calipers.. Plus they are cheaper.. I don't wanna have to deal with the elderado after reading the same stuff.. A line lock was my first intention but didn't know if it would work to pass here. Have you had any problems with getting it to pass inspection? I've seen a post that lists all of the inspection checks but for the life of me I can't find it right now. Here is a link about parking brakes http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/inspection/rules_list.asp?itemdrop=Brake+-+Parking Probably depends on your inspector, but seems to me that a line lock is technically not acceptable "The parking brake may be assisted by the service brakes or other source of power, provided that failure of the service brake actuating system or other power assisting mechanism will not prevent the parking brakes from being applied" Doesn't a line lock rely on using the brake pedal to pressurize the system prior to locking it in?

Well in theory I don't see why it wouldn't work. According to the guys at Kwik Kar it only has to hold for a second. I had no parking brake cables at all when I moved here and that's what they told me so I bought all the cables and put it in. I know on flat ground or a small slope it would hold but on a boat ramp or anything it would not. So I don't see why a line lock wouldn't. I know after awhile the pressure bleeds off. Stupid thing if you ask me. But if that won't pass then why won't a trans lock or driveline brake? Hold better then anything else..

Its definately up to the inspector, depends on how anal they are! Their are lots of dunebuggies on the streets around here that pass with the exact same setup. It technically is not right due to it can bleed off and is not a direct mechanical link to the wheels. I have not had a problem but have only had to get an inspection once and had a friend do it

True depends on the inspector but I say legally the parking brake must not share the same system with the main braking system. For example a busted hose would render the brake unusable.

Have you installed a SYE yet? Have you thought about pinion brake? When they said you needed cables, was it because they tried your e-brake and it didnt work or through a visual inspection before trying the brake?

No I haven't done the SYE yet and thought about the pinion brake too. They tried it and it didn't hold. So they told me it's just has to hold for a second..

IM USING A WILWOOD AUXILERY MASTER CYLINDER WITH A LEVER ACTION E-BRAKE. IT IS TIED IN WITH THE MAIN BRAKING SYSTEM. HAMMER AND TEXAS FROG RAN THE SAME SYSTEM AS MINE AND I KNOW HAMMERS PASSED INSPECTION. AND I WAS TOLD MINE WOULD PASS AS WELL. IF IT WORKS THEY WILL MORE THAN LIKELY NOT LOOK UNDER THE VEHICLE TO SEE HOW IT IS HOOKED UP. IF YOU WANT MORE INFO ON THE SET-UP LET ME KNOW.
