Heater? Tuesday, December 27, 2011 8:37 PM (permalink)
Does anyone have a 12v heater they could part with?
If it moves and shouldn't: Duct Tape & Zip Ties
If it doesn't move and should: WD-40 & a hammer.

Is the heater in your jeep not working? I used to stick a small underdesk style in mine at nitght to keep the inside warm at night. I also used the crome metal air duck tape over my drain holes and even over the cowl vent outside, helped a lot with mine

You can buy one from Harbor freight and plug it in.  Shoot buy two and a  two plug power outlet.  They are about $12 to $15

Think it will mess up my cig lighter or anything?
Bynum, the heat is "working" but the fan is at half power and seems the heat is at about half what it should be. I can't really defrost. I'm worried for our first ice storm.

The inside space heater om extension cord will be no frost. As for the cig plug one they draw a ton. I wouldn't plug it in. Promise itlle blow the fuse. I wouldnt run one with less than number 12 wire strieght to the battery. Mine are wired that way with a keyyed hot relay. If you want I can try sneak by if I'm on that side of town and wire them up.

I think itd be difficult to run an extension cord from her apartment to her jeep
I second the wiring suggestion though, I was looking at a 300w model earlier. That would be roughly 25amps at full draw....quite a bit.

There are also heater pads to slip under your seat covers, theyre a little more power and space friendly.

Have you tried flushing the heater core? Its a pretty common thing for heater cores to plug up...Just clamp off the hoses to the heater core, remove said hoses from core, take a water hose (hopefully with good water pressure) and push water into the core inlet and outlet to flush...

Jessie, What is the actual problem / symptoms you are having with your factory heater and blower motor. What switch postitions work, can you select hot or cold mixture, and so on. Just got done getting my heater and blower up to speed recently.
                    Thanks,

Armour flushed the core for me and it made no difference. He also changed the thermostat.
Right now the switch to change from hot to cold is broken...Armour was able to change it from hot to cold by pulling a cable under the dash. A month ago I could switch it but I think the little plastic switch broke off =(.
Aside from that-- I can change the fan speeds but when i have it on full blast its only half as hard as it should be. It just makes a lot of noise. It's also only half as hot as it should be, even after running at full temp for a long time.

Hmmm...might be something stuck in the doors of the heater box or something like that.

EDIT: I guess its a common problem for the blend doors to break and stick in the cold position on 97-06 wranglers...

I'll have to check that out. Although it doesn't fit cause I can still switch temperatures...but the stuff about the door makes sense. It really does seem like something is jammed.

Check the selection controls.  Picking between floor vents, dash vents and defrost vents  is all done via vacuum actuators.  Perhaps a vac leak in one of those lines is keeping the routing doors from changing all the way.  Your weak blower may be because half the air is going to the defrost vents or something similar.

The only one that doesn't work right is the full defrost. It doesn't come on at all.
