Rock on. Extra channels are always good. You could always pirate the neighbor's cable. Since that's legal and all. I wondered about the picture quality as well. Let us know if it's any better or what.

Yes the picture is better...interesting enough I been having troulbe with some channels not coming in clear before the converters and now they do. but I still don't have a HD tv yet so it still like a regular tv picture.

That's good that you get a better picture though. It's always nice when you get more than you paid for.

32" LCD tv for 500 bucks on sale a couple weeks ago at best buy. I think there like 640 now that the sell is over.

I highly recommend going HD. There is a world of difference. It's funny all the announcers that you realize shouldn't be broadcast in HD.

I love my 42" HD TV. With Verizon FIOS it's amazing. I just hope they start adding more HD channels.

I've got a 55" Hitachi Plasma and I've loved every minute of it. My Dish HD has a lot of channels but to get all the HD channels I'd want I'd have to upgrade packages.

ORIGINAL: Ninjessie ...i never watch tv. but i was wondering if you have to put any money into those converter boxes? Don't watch tv? Blasphemy. I would assume that the boxes are a one time purchase, in other words there is no subscription fees. I could be wrong though.

Dave could answer this better, but from my understanding is that there are no fees and the cards you get from the government pays for almost all the price of the box.

Right now it a one time fee buying the boxes...you are just getting the broadcast that are sent out locally but at times with my attic attenna I can get waco and Austins broadcast....I don't watch much tv either. My Mom got hers today and I installed one of them and noticed since she uses rabbit attennas she lost stations. I plan to look for better attennas for her. But she don't care...she was around before tv and knows you can make it without it. I too rather go play then watch tv.

well i was wondering when i first heard it cause eventually it is going to be mandatory that if you want TV in any way shape or form (even if its just weather...for tornado warnings or something), you have to switch to digital. It kinda ****ed me off that they would make this change required and then also make you pay for it. I knew they were offering some kind of assistance, just didnt know the whole story.
