Forum Software Update

A forum software update is to be installed sometime between now and next week. If i get enough forewarning I'll post a date. We are upgrading our current forum software package to version 3.5. Among many other things, this promises to address many of the bugs we've witnessed in recent days. It will also allow us to integrate your web forum signon across the site, including when you sign up for events (I have to build-in that last part but the vendor claims its possible now.) Anyway, you WILL see some anomalies as we get it working. Post up any bugs you find here please.

I was actually just thinking/wondering about that. I noticed the version on here was rather out-of-date. I am using phpbb3 (free) on our RockStar Automotive forums and I love it. I would totally be willing to help with setting up the phpbb3 on here, there is a really awesome theme I've come across that would be perfect. Unfortunately there doesn't seam to be a conversion for migrating an asp board to phpbb3....Just my thoughts. I'm not familiar with the aspplayground.net stuff at all, but would be willing to help with some of the aesthetics around here.

Thanks. Phpbb is awesome. Its more difficult to integrate between php and asp.net which is why it was not selected.

I found a bug - It is over at Tyler's house. Bright yellow - maybe we should try to drive over it.
Billy Thomas '78 CJ5 - in progress I have altitude sickness. When I come down off the mountains, I get sick.

ORIGINAL: MoneyPit sounds good. what new items will be added or is this just an error fix? We are upgrading the entire forum package from version 2.5.5 to the current version, I think it is at version 3.6 now. Click the link to aspplayground at the bottom of every page in the forum if you want to see details and features of the new version.

Wish I could take some credit. Clint did more than I did but the real credit should go to the dude at ASPPlayground, they did the upgrades for us.

I appreciate all the work y'all put into this. I do have one question. How can I get rid of all the crud at the top like the list of posts and the active pictures? I just want to view the forum by itself.

I just want to view the forum by itself. I believe that is "theme" related. Right now we only have one theme active. Perhaps once we get this one humming smoothly we can do some other variations, such as a "no crud" theme. A mobile theme might also be a possible solution to iPhone friendliness. Not sure if we can break out the pulldown button menus or not.

The only thing that doesnt work with it on the iphone is when you try and reply to a post or thread. The screen freezes up and I have to reboot the phone... I dont have any other issues with other forums and the last setup on here worked just fine.. I figure since its a new software that there are some bugs to work out. I just figured i let yall know. Evan.

kayden101 I notice you can get points now how do i get points?? o and it doessnt look like we still have the smilies anymore atleast not the off road ones We are working on the smilies, but wheeling took priority today Not sure about the reward points. I think it is something that users can offer to other users by posting a "reward post". Something like offering a reward point for someone who can help the poster find/fix a problem or answer a technical question for them. This is a new feature that we can use or turn off. Anyone have any opinions on this feature (assuming it is what I described)?
