Ford - Jeep Hybrid Coming Soon!
Tuesday, July 21, 2009 6:57 AM
( permalink)
Guess what I am doing now.....I got a hold of a t-90 and D-18 from a willys jeep....They are going behind my ford turbo motor with a centerforce clutch and novak adapter. I am rebuilding both trans and transfer case right now. It will sit in my zuk body and I will have to make more shafts to mate to the international front end and ford 9 rear. Are you gonna use the stock ebrake on the D18? If not, could be a way to shed some pounds. I can't remember how to bypass that though.

Will do. I just got done with the tranny....Damn! has anyone done an oldie like that? The bearings are all just needles. They have no retainers. The jack shaft had 72 needles that I had to get inside of it, lower it in the case, and slide the pin thru it. I had to make 4 special tools just to do that.

Here is a pic of one set of needles and my special tool on the cluster gear. This was 22 out of 72 needles. [image]local://480/4F9EA46CEA7C4868952C75A5B6905194.jpg[/image]

They were intimidating at first but after going thru my s**** metal I was able to devise 3 tools to help with the needle bearing issue.

Another look. I had custom flanges made so I can still use the samurai mounting pattern on the drive shafts. [image]local://480/20BD79862611493B9AB1FC9072EE783C.jpg[/image]

Been working on motor stuff also. I ported the upper and lower intake for the turbo motor. I gutted the upper and ported into a point the lower. This will allow more airflow without obstruction. [image]local://480/B361971DA40C45029807E6B2BE2DD4EE.jpg[/image]

Here is the gutted upper intake. Grinding out aluminum is hard. Nothing like steel. It sticks to the cutting bit like glue. Even with that 30 dollar bit. [image]local://480/4676E0DE9BA7485FB7CD3B562F41907F.jpg[/image]
