Erosion at Bridgeport Tuesday, May 04, 2010 2:15 PM (permalink)
Due to a couple of differing reasons and one being an over-saturation of rain, trail erosion is beginning to become a problem at the Park in Bridgeport....After conferring with another trail attendant today and being updated with a full trail report, it is necessary to get this info out for all who have not been out there lately or are planning on wheeling the Park soon....This is just a heads up to keep everyone updated on the situation there, not to alarm anyone....better safe than sorry.

The Power Line trail drop that runs beside the Twins is now seriously deteriorated and has become almost an impossibility for stock vehicles to get up, as well as several of the level 3 trails that run off of Power Line. The easiest access in and out of the west end section of Power Line (the Twins area)is now the bypass on the far right side of the Twins, next to Hamburger Hill. The "Two Steep" trails that drop from Ridgeline down to Power Line have an enormous seperation near the top, and those trails have been temporarily closed due to the danger of dropping into the crevasse (cones have been placed)...The road in and out of the Spider Web is extremely rutted out, and the creek beds are still muddy, saturated from rainfall.

We are now contemplating cutting another entrance/exit trail on high ground between the main Spider Web trail through the trees and connecting to the Power Line trail on the eastern end (close to the bottom of No Winch Hill)

As the weather gets warmer and drier, and hopefully some trail maintenance, we can work on getting the trails closer to their normal conditions as soon as possible. If you plan on coming out to wheel the Park please just be aware of the current conditions, and be safe!...We would love to see you there

i did something like that before.... here is my story

this was out in the middle of no whear. i been to this area a few times, but now theres construction so cant go anymore. anyways. it was night and completely dark... not being smart... i saw what was a little dirt hill in the distance. so im like i got to try this....

i decided to floor it from about 30 feet away......... im going...... about 5 feet from the dirt hill..... BAMMMMM!!!. luckly i had my seatbelt on or i would of hit the windshield... i was going pretty fast and then a dead stop. very unexpected. i noticed my rig was leaning downwards.... still dazed i open the door and fell in an about 5 foot deep crater that someone made to drain the flood zone.

it was about 5 foot deep and 3 feet wide! I swear this was never here before... after i got my thoughts together and picked up my cellphone that fell in the water...

my rig front bumper was dug into the dirt on the other side of the crater. and my transfer case cross member was on the sitting on the other edge ... All 4 wheels were off the ground...

it was insance lol... never had an experience like that before...  wish i had pictures....

What you don't see immediately to the left of and below those pics is a steep and severe drop off on that trail. It could be potentially catastrophic if someone were to attempt purposely jumping over that, or even to roll across it by mistake....therefore "Two Steep" has been temporarily closed until we can figure out the best way to repair the trail.

Yea Clyde's is bad, I went from the bottom of the trail almost to the top then had to very carefully turn around. I think Jeremy might have some pics, I heard he rolled on it.

Clyde's has been closed from what I understand.  The access to the lower end is apparently very dangerous and until they fix it the trail is closed.

Yeah, Puddin was talking to me about that this evening, he rolled on Clyde's at Megarun

Yea there was a sign at the top of the trail but no sign at the bottom.

Maybe we could toss a couple blazers in there to fill the gap.
