Wonder how that axle would look under my TJ?
Its 5" wider than a TJ axle, but they also offer the JK D44 front to match width and bolt patterns. JK bolt patterns are 5 on 5".
I have no idea what a JK Dana 60 costs. I read in JP magazine about the JK Front and Rear Dana 44s available from Mopar. They are @$1300-1400 each. A little pricey, but cheaper than other brand new axles you would find.
If someone wanted a pair of dana 44s for their older jeep, these would not bolt right in. But they would give a person 4.10 gearing, electric lockers requiring only a 12v positive and a ground, and true Dana 44 housings. Plus, the new JK steering knuckles are built with crossover steering right from the factory.
All in all, if I still had the TJ and wanted to beef up my axles, I would consider the swap. With the LJ rubicon I have now, I can't see spending the money to go from a D44 to a D44, even with the better D44s and better lockers the JK has.
I was talking to Adam at Screamin' Lizard one day, and he said the JK axles control arm mounts work well when going into a TJ, but that they have to move the spring pads.
