RE: Big rigs needed for B-port the 19th Thursday, September 17, 2009 6:21 AM (permalink)
***ATTENTION FELLOW WHEELERS***

We are re-posting this in order to give a bit of advance notice to the north Texas area off-road clubs...a couple of slight changes have been made.

As noted, grand opening for Bridgeport Northwest ORV Park has now been rescheduled for Saturday, October 10th. We are looking for a few good rigs to help us present the park to new visitors

Ryan Nolting, Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Bridgeport has asked me to coordinate this venture and to assemble the list of volunteers.

We are needing about 15 - 20 capable rigs that have the ability to run a couple of the harder trails at the park to help us out on a "fun ride" event.
The press, some city officials, as well as any other visitors that just want to get a good taste of the park will be there to ride "shotgun" on a pre-arranged tour of about 15 - 20 minutes around the park, ending up the tour "with a bang" on a challenging trail or two...
Depending on how many are there for the the "ride along", it should take up to perhaps an hour or two total considering how many tours you take out,  and then you will be free to wheel as you wish the rest of the day.
It should be a blast for those that will be willing to give us a hand on this, and at the same time get a chance to show off just what you and your rig can do on the rocks...be the talk of the town, so to speak.

15 - 20 of the more capable rigs that sign up will get the spots. We are looking for those that are those modified and confident enough to hit a hard trail or two...Step up and volunteer, this will no doubt be a great opportunity for a little exposure for those that get in on this!

***For your time and services, you will be awarded a free one day pass to the park for a future wheeling visit.***

We will need you to be on site by the time the park opens up at 8:00 a.m.
Please post up, and PM or call me @214-662-6384  ASAP if you can help us out.

Michelle and I will be working at the park opening weekend, and we would love to see you out there!

Thank you,

Steve Sprayberry

If you have wheeled any of the 3 - 4 diamond trails at B-port then your rig is plenty capable...if you are interested for the 10th please let me know as soon as you can.

                              Just an update....
As far as we know, the grand opening is still scheduled for this coming Saturday, the 10th. We have not received any word that is contrary to that. So far, the weather conditions seem to be holding out that would not change the plans to hold the big grand opening event, so we hope to see as many of you out there as we can....we will keep you posted  should anything change.
Thanks again Jeremy (90K5), Kevin (Slyder), and Jimmy (Txriverrat) for helping us out with the ride-a-long set for Saturday morning, and we are looking forward to seeing you there. Just a reminder, we will need to have you guys there by 7:30 a.m. so that we can prepare for the group pre-run of the route.

We are still hoping for the best as far as the weather and park conditions are concerned. The City of Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department will be making the decision affecting the park for this weekend....let's keep our fingers crossed!

Well, last thing we need is for the park's grand opening to result in massive erosion problems.  Anyway, looks like this wet weather we're having will be the norm for this year according to this:

                                      http://www.lubbockonline.com/stories/093009/sta_499046210.shtml

Looks to be another El Nino weather pattern affecting us if what they say is true.  But we definitely need the rain....
