Back-in-the-country Tolar Run!!! July 15-17 Tuesday, April 19, 2011 7:17 PM (permalink)
Hey guys, it's been too long since i have been wheeling. Jenn and I will be stateside in July and we want to try to have a weekend camp/wheel. We are thinking about K2 because it's close to Brownwood (where my truck is). We are still unsure if we will be able to even sneak away from family for a run, but we want to. So, here are the plans and ideas.

Possible Dates:
July 8-10
or
July 15-17

If yall have any other suggested ideas for wheeling, let me hear them... I have been out of the country for almost a year and out of the wheeling loops. =[

If anyone wants to join, please do. I would love to hang out with friends i havn't seen in way too long. (Mike, Jessie, Mark, Whats her face, Chris, Ryan, Mr. Miller, Matt, etc... that means yall)

Again, this isn't nailed down, but I would love for it to be. i know it's a good ways off but my wife wants to have a set schedule for when we are home.

As of right now it looks like the 8-10th will be the best weekend for us.

Not set in stone, but thats the date we are leaning toward right now.

Not sure how set you are on K2 but another option to keep in mind is Tolar (in between Granbury and Stephenville on 377).  I'd imagine it will be open by then, it is about the same distance from Brownwood and much closer to DFW than K2.  Would be good for people to either camp the weekend or do a day trip if they want.

thanks for the info Mark! Im not set on K2 at all... i would like something like Lipan was, gather your own firewood, night wheeling, etc... I don't know much about K2 but i knew it was open and close. i know exactly where Tolar is, drove through it several times when going to brownwood/stephenville. What is Tolar like? cost?more info?

                    Here is some background...  http://lsjc.org/board/showthread.php?t=44776
The park is not open yet.  I saw at one point they were shooting for easter but that did not happen.  Perhaps Memorial day now, dunno?
Web site is still a placeholder.  http://www.rocktrails.com/
Some info and pics on Facebook.  Search Rock Trails of Tolar and you will find their facebook page.

                        looks pretty cool...

not sure if we will be able to make the run. Nate can't get off work the 8-10 weekend... and Jenn can't come the 15-17 weekend... so it's really up in the air to even go now...
